MR ISITT EXPLAINS.
CHRISTCHURCH, March 6. Referring to the telegram from Mr Wright, M.P. denying that the Temperance party in Wellington had any knowledge of Sir Joseph Ward's alleged offer to make the .55 per cenc. majority a vital issue, Mr L. M. Isitfc explains that he did not say that the Prime Minister had offered to stake the existence of the Government ok the jso per cent, majority. What he did say' was that Sir J. G. Ward declared to the members of th© Prohibition Party that •if they 'insisted x\e was prepared to fulfil his promise to include the reduction of the majority as a* provision of the Bill, however impossible it might bo to carry it at that juncture."
