CONFERENCE OF PRODUCERS

The conference.of meat producers which has been sitting in Wellington to consider methods of improving the handling and marketing of frozen meat concluded its work on Thursday (says the N.Z. Times), when the following resolutions were adopted: That the delegates present at this conference report to their committees that in the best interests of producers it is essential that a representative should be sent Some to continue the work begun by the New Zealand committee, so as to impress upon tho London port authorities and the London Corporation the bona fides of exporters in their desire for better facilities in London; that the cost •of such a representative should be at least £1750, and to provide funds for this purpose, the.various committees be asked to make a vigorous canvass in their district for funds to meet these expenses, as soon as funds are available the. Central Committee to be authorised to engage a man and send him Home with instructions;

That a better system of grading be adopted than at present prevails. That a permanent committee be appointed in London and asked to represent the New Zealad producers in London, to work in conjunction with anyone appointed at this end. A vote of thanks was passed to Mr W. D. Lysnar and the New Zealand committee for what they had done in bringing the position before the authorities and producers. Mr Jack, Wellington secretary of the New Zealand Farmers' Union, was appointed secretary for the association for the time being. Mr Vr. J. Wilson was thanked for presiding, and the feeling was expressed that the conference had performed some solid .work, and it was hoped that, with the support of the producers, substantial good would result in the near future.
