The Government has made arrangements to obtain some motor cars for the purpose of making experiments as to their suitability for the requirements of the New Zealand railways. The first experiments will be made on those lines which will best test the utility of the cars and enable the Department to obtain reliable details from the financial point of view. After this is done the question of further extending the use of the cars to other branches of the railway system will bo considered.
