GRAIN AND PRODUCE MARKETS

(Christchurch Press, Wednesday.) There is a quieter tone ir the local wheat market, owing to the London > market being weaker. Shippers "aro .finding it. difficult to effect sales at 31s 6d to 32s per quarter, the Lest offers 'that have lately been received from London. Consequently they are not ready to make further purchases from farmers \t prices. which may leave them no margin of profit if the London market goes back any .further. % , Oats are dull _ of sale, ' and 'merchants are realising that they can ■only turn over their stocks at a loss. "The North Island .demand is limited, .as the season there is favorable, and

feed is making good growth. The northern markets are being -supplied with potatoes from Melbourne, and new potatoes are coming into Auckland from Sydney.
