SEDDON.
[FEOM OT7R CORRESPONDENT.]
Monday
The Seddon school-children celebrated Arbor Day on Friday last, when 41 native shrubs were planted in a portion of the school grounds. After the planting sports were held in the Domain. Parents and children then adjourned to the school, where afternoon tea was.served. Altogether a most enjoyable afternoon was spent. The members of the School Committee controlling the proceedings were Mrs Walker (chairwoman) and Messrs Crofar and Tombes; the duties of the rest of the members preventing their attendance. Thanks are due to the Defence Rifle Club and the parents for provisions, to Mr A. C. Elliott for collecting funds for prizes, and to Messrs G. J. Ward and J. Liley for gifts of shrubs.
