CIVIL SERVICE v. PICTON
This was the first match played, and proved an easy yiptory for the visitors by four goals to nil. Play throughout was fast, and the condition of the . Picton players enabled them to make the! pace, from beginning to end of each spell, and thus somewhat easily disposed of their opponents. Whiting, who scored three goals, and Matthews, who registered the' fourth goal, played fine hockey for the winners, as also did Stbcker and; -Grompton . Smith, j v Cottrell,Smith, Payne, . and Foster, were.,the pick of the Civil Service team. /Mr S. Paul refereed. ; ' ■■'•,•'.'!
