H Vaudeville, classical by name, "Augustus," did not wholly meet with classical treatment from an audience in the Oddfellows' Hall, Petone. the other evening (states The Post). When the time came for the billed "magic and mystery" part of the entertainment, the "professor," who undertook to amaze the onlookers, did not command a respectful watching. He was, apparently, striving earnestly to impress the spectators, but sections of them steadfastly declined to take the* artist seriously, and persistently questioned the merit of his performance. This they did by ejaculations, vigorous exercising of boots against the floor, and finally by snatches of coon songs, which brought tlu "Augustus" programme to an abrupt close soon after 9 o'clock.
