A tei'rible explosion occurred in a xange of boilers at the Distington Ironworks, three miles from Workiugton, as a result of which a great portion of the works was wrecked. Of the eleven boilers four were blown inixi space, five deranged, and only two remained intact. '" The-.boilers were at ordinary pjressure at-the time.
