Sir William Lyne, replying to theTumut Municipal Council's request that he should vote for the presentation of a "Dreadnought," said that ho thought the-gift of a "Dreadnought" simply absurd, because it would bei old iron in seven or eight years' time. "The question of. expense is not worth consideration, but the money; would be much better spent in carrying out what the Imperial Government wants us to do for our protection herej and not simply by holding up a blanket."
