THE PRICE OF FLOUR.

NO REDUCTION AT PRESENT. . THE SPLIT IN THE ASSOCIATION. [moM our. coeeespondent.] CHRISTCHUHCH, June 15. Information gleaned in Tiinaru today was to the effect .that at the meeting of directors of the New Zealand Flourmillers' Association, held in Christchurch on Thursday last, the question of further reducing the price of flour was discussed. . Considerable ■secrecy obtains as to what actually happened at the meeting, but from ..what has leaked out it appears that .as millers arc-not obtaining a profitable price for their flour at the present price of wheat no further reduction could be made in the price of .flour just now. It is understood, however, that branch managers and agents of the- Association in the different centres are to be instructed to Iceep a sharp look-out v/ith a view to ascertaining the prices at which outside millers arc disposing of their flour, and the discounts they are giving, and to meet any "cutting" tactics by corresponding reductions in price, any loss incurred thereby to lie made good to the millers from the reserve fund accumulated by the Association. This fund is • said to amount now to a good many thousand

pounds. Negotiations for patching up the difference which exists between the Association and the millers who have severed their connection with it have so far proved futile, and at present there does not seem to be much prospect of a satisfactory reunion.
