LEGISLATIVE COUNCIL.

The Council met at 10.30 a.m. THE "DREADNOUGHT" OFFER. The Hon. Mr RIGG gave notice to move that the Council disapproves the Government's "Dreadnought" offer as unjustifiable, immoral and ridiculous, because a loan must be obtained in order to make the gift, and because Great Britain can pay for all the battleships required, and the proposal was the outcome of a newspaper scare organised for unworthy motives. The Council then adjourned.
