NAVAL SUBSIDY SHOULD BE

INCREASED

Colonel Foxton, who is to represent the Commonwealth at the_ Defence Conference, says that he is in favour of a vigorous policy of naval and military defence for Australia. The naval side is at present the first in importance. Every Australian, Colonel Foxton continued, aspired to'see'His country make a beginning with the construction of a local Navy, and in the fulness of time she might boast of a Navy; bub for many years she must be dependent upon the British Navy. He would not reduce, biyb rather increase, the present subsidy.
