The weather was threatening, but the Avicket was excellent. The attendance at the opening, was meagre. The County team made a short stay, the innings being over by luncheon. It lasted an hour and 40 minutes. With the total at five Braund was neatly taken low down in the slips by Armstrong off Whitty. Hardy, after hitting a fiver to leg, gave a catch to Noble, the, second wicket failing at 21. . Carter stumped Narayan, making the score 3 for 36. The light was now improving, and the Avicket playing slower than was expected. The fourth wicket went' at 42, the fifth at 50, and the sixth at 52. LeAvis made his score by steady play. Robson fell to an easy catch in the slips. Bisgood was snapped up by Carter at the wickets. A smart catch by McAllister at deep field disposed of Hill. The score Avas iioav 7 for 61 } and ten runs later GresAvell put his leg in front of one from Whitty. Noble acounted for the ninth wicket at 93, and bagged Chidgey in the same over.
