THIEVES DISTURBED.
ATTEMPT TO.ROB A FOUNDA-TION-STONE. [press association.! NEWCASTLE, June 9. A daring act of vandalism was perpetrated last night. Thieves moved, the six-cwt. founda-tion-stone of a memorial to'"the coal industry laid the previous day, and smashed the receptacle containing the coins. They were interrupted before they abstracted the coins, and escaped.
