A NEW CAREER FOR GIRLS.

Any girl who wants something to do and is in doubt as to what career to take up, should read the splendid articles <n the April and May numbers of The New Idea on Kindergartening. In the May issue that lies before us, the work of the teacher of children by this method is very clearly described. The reader is told, too, how to set about being a kindergarten teacher, and the salaries that may be earned. The contact with the children seems to train the teacher as much as she trains her pupils, and the work is described as fascinating. There is something in the education of the very young that appeals to the mother-in-stinct in woman, and a girl who wishes to take up this charming career should not fail to buy the April and May issues of The New Idea (6d each). Another article of interest is an intervew by a, New Idea representative with Miss Ghristabel Pankhnrst, one of the leading spirits in the campaign

for woman's suffrage in England. Miss Pankhurst is described as a "womanly woman," and the portrait shows her a good-looking one also. There are half a dozen very good stories —lovestories and others—in the May New Idea, and a very comprehensive set of practical articles. Scarcely an aspect of the practical side of a woman's life is neglected. The fashion section is as good as can be seen anywhere, besides being suited for Australasian needs. Moreover, while very extensive (over 100 designs being illustrated), it does not swamp the other good features of the magazine. We note that evjry buyer gets six free patterns. Another main, feature is the puzzle contest. The prizes are all cash, this time, a purse containing 25 sovereigns being the first prize. The set of picturepuzzles in this issue! are very easy/fco solve, however. No woman could fail to be pleased at her purchase ivho spends sixpence on the current issue of this excellent Australasian magazine.
