Mr W. Redmond's Bill for the re---moral of Catholic disabilities was read a second time by 133 to 123. and committed to a Committee of the Whole House, which is equivalent to shelv"ing it. Mr Asquith approved of the proposal to open the Lord Chancellorship and "the Irish Ticeroyalty to Catholics. 1 The accession declaration Tie characterised as the flimsiest -and'most unnecessary safeguard. . He suggested the appointment of a committee to -find a form of declaration inoffensive to any religious susceptibilities.
