TASMANJA WINS THE EIGHTS.:

[PEESS ASSOCIATION.] (Received May 15, 4.45 p.m.) BRISBANE, May 16. The inter-State championship regatta was held yesterday in wet weather.

In the champion sculling race J. Towns (New South Wales) was first, Richards (Victoria) second and Dennis (Queensland) third. Won easily. Time, I6min 45sec. Eight-oared race: Tasmania 1, Victoria 2, New South Wales 3. , There was a great race between the first two crews. The. race was rowed in heavy rain. Queensland were first away, but Tasmania assumed the lead after a quarter of a mile, and, rowingl grandly, led to the finish, winning by a bare length from Victoria. Time, 19 minutes. , o
