{pBEfiS ASSOCIATION..] {Eeeeived May 15, 0.55 ■a.m.') V • SYDNEY, ULasy, 14. The A.MyP. Society held its sixtieth annual meeting to-day. The President said that the Society was still making records. The interest earned during the year was £4 9s 4d. per cent, a drop of 7d on the rate of 19.07; but the rate had hardened within the last few months. Mr Joliustoa t(New Zealand), an supporting • the motion for the adoption of the report, said that ,the Dominion's new business constitutedv a record. Comment on the financial conditioTi of New Zealand was not hir frequent Jusfc now.. It must be admitted that the Dominion had not 'escaped the general trade depression, which ill some parts of the country had beten accentuated T>y dealings in land (agricultural, pastoral and suburban) which could not possibly be justified unless by the belief that whatever one paid some still more confident person would shortly offer more. But on the other hand, the country had experienced a marvellously favourable season, yielding rich harvests, prolific lambing, a heavy -wool clip, godd fruit crops, and an abundant supply of milk. In addition theVe had been a very important recovery in the price of wool. On the whole, he thought that the conditions pointed to a general improvement, and, the reasonable view was that the worst of the trouble was already over, and that with, proper care tiwsre was no cause for alarm.
