WEST'S PICTURES.

"West's Pictures and Orchestral Band will commence a season of three nights at the Town Hall, Blenheim, to-night. In the course of a recent highly appreciative notice of West's Picture entertainment a West Coast paper says: The fame that preceded the above company's advent to this town has been by no means lessened by last night's entertainment. The large audience were enchanted with the pictures; and as one spectator expressed himself, no other kinematograph that has visited our town has been "in the same street." The pictures were absolutely superb, the secret being of course that they are new. The machinery, by which the pictures are shown, is admitted to be the best imported into New Zealand, any flickering is not noticeable, and the light is the most powerful of any brought to the Coast. Among the fine scenic pictures shown last night were: "Gorges of Tarn," "Rome and its Fountains," "Beautiful Brittany," "Naval Manoeuvres by Italian Warships," (in connection > with this picture it might be mentioned that Admiral Fisher, of the British Navy, was a spectator of the manoeuvres, and after he had seen the picture that was taken he forbade anyone to take pictures of the working of British battleships, at the same time expressing his astonishment at the Italian naval authorities allowing it); "Aden and its Camel Market," and numbers of comic and dramatic films. The orchestra is also a feature of the cn r tertainment, and provides excellent music. The plan for the season is now on view at Quartly's.
