Opawa, for Wellington, early. Waihi, for Wellington, Saturday, at noon. .
The Wairau, bound from Motueka to Wellington, sought shelter at Picton at 2.20 p.m. yesterday. She pro- . ceeded on her way last night. The Kennedy arrived at Picton today from Greymouth. After loading she sails for Nelson, Westport and Greymouth, via Wellington. Capt. Harvey, of the Queen of the South, who has been spending a short holiday with his son, Mr E. J. Harvey, of Blenheim, returned to Wellington by the Te Anau yesterday. The Blenheim was held up at Picton all day yesterday through heavy weather, and did not get away for Wellington till last night, arriving at her destination at 6.45 a.m. to-day. The recent fresh in the rivers has had no apparent beneficial effect on the Wairau Bar. There was too much sea on the bar to allow of a launch going out to sound to-day. There appears to be no channel across the bar, but conditions may improve in a, few days. Meanwhile there is no possible chance of the steamers working the bar.
