[from our Correspondent.] Monday
The Kia Ora Hockey Club held their annual meeting on Saturday .naght, and there was .a fair attendance, ihe balance-sheet- showed a good balanco m hand. Miss A. Alquist tendered- her. •resignation of the office or secretary, which was (received by the meeting with, .regret. The officers, for the ensuing year were elected as follows: Patron, Mr A. W. Dillon,; President, Mr C. L. Diamanti; Vice-Pa'esadenit, Mr H. Homes; Secretary, Miss A. Homes; Captain., Miss M. E. Dia-ma-niti (re-elected). After the retaining eecretatry's books and account® had been gone through by the meeting and read out by the retiring secretary, they were accepted as correct, with a feeling of satisfaction that .the secretary .had done her work in an efficient manner, and. was worthy of congratulation. The •fortnightly dance-was well attended on Saturday night. On Saturday 'afternoon; shooting commenced on the Canvastown range once more after a spell of some months. Some fair ©hooting was don© in spite of (the long spell. It is hoped that lovers of this fine sport will keep up a good attendance, and push .the CanvastOAvn Rifle Club to the fore.
Someone took the liberty to break open 0. L. Diamamti's wnar© ait his claim on the west side of the Wakamairlna and walk off with several useful tools. It is understood1 that Mr Diamanti is on the, track of the thief, and it is hoped that Constable King will be also. It is time this sort of tiling was put down.
