This afternoon at Brownlee Paris: the opening of the Takareke Ladies Hockey Club took place. The weather was all that could be desired. A large number were present. Mr W. Hunter, President of the Club, addressed the members, and said he was pleased to see such a lot of enthusiasm shown over the excellent game, and congratulated them upon the previous successful seasons, and hoped that m the future they would be still more successful. Play then commenced, the Club being divided into A ami B teams, and all played an excellent game, the A team scoring one goal. Mr Howard Reader acted as refereeAfter the game a very dainty afternoon tea, provided by the member-?, was partaken of, and all 'players ai?d friends were quite ready for a cup ol 'tea. "Altogether there were twe.a.ybix players, more than a full team.
