Yesterday afternoon in the pavilion the annual meeting of the Takoreka Hockey Club took palce. There were fifteen members present, amd Mr_T. D. Taylor was voted to the chaw. The minutes and balance-sheet of last year were read and confirmed, and the club financially is in a very goodposi!tio<n. Mr W. Hunter was elected president. Other officers were: Miss V. Powell, captain (re-elected); Miss L. Reader, deputy-captain ; -Miss E. Gwillim, secretary (re-elected); committee, Misses A. Scott, M. Rae, B. Huniter, A. Orsman and C. Pickering. It was decided to have the opening day on Thursday week, 29th April, but practices will commence at once, Tuesdays and Thursdays being the days fixed "upon. It was decided to purchase navy caps, which will be worked with the club's initials by Miss A. Orsman. The meeting ended with a hearty vote of thanks to the chair- ■ man.
Mr W. H. Smith has returned from Wellington.
