ACTRESSES £25.000 CLAIM.
REMARKABLE DEVELOPMENTS
Mr Blame Elkins, son of Senator Stephen B. Elkins, and brother of Miss Katherine Elkins, who is engaged to the Duke of the Abruzzi, has been made the defendant in a breach of promise action for £25,000 damages brought by Miss Ada Louise Lonsdale, an actress.. The case is a sequel to Mr Blame Elkin's romantic elopment early this year with Miss Kenna, daughter or' his father's bitterest rival. Miss Lonsdale asserts that Mr Elkins paid the expenses of her divorce from Mr Leonidas' Scoffy, and after the divorce gave her a wedding ring to reassure her of his intention to marry her as soon as parental opposition was overcome. Mr Elkins, she says, introduced her in various towns, as his wife, but always postponed the wedding ceremony, declaring that his father would "cut him off" if he married. Three days before his elopment .he left her casually, explaining that he must visit his family and would return in a week. The suit promises remarkable'developments, as Miss Lonsdale declares* that she possesses 300 letters full of passionate protestations of undying affection from ishe defendant. Mr Elkins senior denies categorically that his soil ever promised to marry Miss Londsale.
