MARANUI WINS THE CUP

Club for the last day of the meeting., Heavy rain fell all night with a south wind, but cleared before midday. A large crowd attended, the ladies wearing their spring costumes. The. stands were crowded. The inter-State visitors exceeded the usual number. Sir T. Gibson-Carmichael's was the ' only vice-regal party, though Lord Dudley's staff attended. The course, and lawns were in good order. Trouble arose over- the identification of Maranui, but it was over before the Cup, for which all started. Hurdles.—Red Fly 1, Bj-elogue 2, Cpraki 8. Won by three lengths. Time, 4min 9sec. , . Nursery Handicap.—Saltire 1, Lady Dudley 2, Beebevfu 3. Won by half a neck, two lengths between second and third. Time, 56secs.
