THE GENERAL ELECTION.
Our Picton correspondent writes: Much interest is being evinced locally in the present political contest, which promises to be keen. On Thursday evening some fifty-four supporters of Mr J. Duncan held a meeting in the Foresters' Hall. Mr J. A. R. Greensill was in the chair, and the proceedings were of a very enthusiastic nature. The whole or the meeting 'resolved itself into a committee with power to add to its number in support of Mr Duncan's candidature. That gentleman was not present, but I hear will meet the Committee during the coming week. \
