GERMANY IN MOROCCO.

RELEASE OF A ROBBER ASKED FOR.

REASON FOR THE STEP.

[FRT3S3 ASSOCIATION.] (Received Sept. 11, 0.20 a.m.)

LONDON, Sept. 10,

Possible trouble is feared as a re--sult of Germany, through the Legation, requesting the Moorish Government to release Kaid Eriniki, one of the first northern Governors who adopted the Hafidian cause.

Thja European Legations have claims arising out, of Ermiki's robberies and extortions. His arrest occurred at the instance of Mulai Hand's com-mander-in-chief after Ermiki's proceedings at Larache necessitated armed European intervention.

His nephew, a German protege, was released; thereupon Germany claimed the Kaid's release, and showed a list of seven members of the Kaid's family as being German-protected subjects.

Menebehi replied that the Kaid was solely, a Moorish official, and not a protege, and that Germany was overstepping her rights.

The German excuse is that the Kaid ■served Mulai Hand's interests well.
