CARDINAL VANNUTELLI'S ARRIVAL.
PROGRAMME OF THE CONGRESS*
10,000 MASSES TO BE SAID.
(Received Sept. 10, 8.16 a.m.) LONDON, Sept. 9. The Eucharistic Congress opens today.
Two bishops met Cardinal Vaimutelli, the Papal Legate, at Dover, and Archbishop Bourne, the Bishop of Dunedin, the Duke of Norfoik ; and a large and enthusiastic gathering welcomed him at Charing Cross Station.
The delegates included eight cardinals, fifteen archbishops, seventy bishops, twenty-two abbots and many other dignitaries from all parts of the world.
During the four days of the Congress ten thousand masses will be said, with elaborate: music,, in the Cathedral ; one day Byzantine, another English, another French and another Italian. • . t ".. -
Papers upon various aspects of the history and development of the worship of the Sacrament will be read in the Horticultural, Caxton and Buckingham Halls. Receptions and great meetings will be held in the Albert Hall.
The entire Congress relates to subjects connected with the Eucharist.
Catholic Peers are accommodating many of the leading visitors.
Eight thousand membership tickets were issued and sold days ago, and there have been many hundreds of fruitless applications since;
