POULTRY ASSOCIATION.

, ANNUAL DINNER

The Marlborough Poultry Association held tlieir annual dinner last night in. one, of the ante-rooms of the Town Hall. The President (Mr J. L. Lord) was chairman, and Mr W. Gamble occupied the vice-chair.

Various toasts were honoured

In replying to 'the toast of VThe Judge," Mr Woodward gave an interesting address from a fancier's po^nt of view. He gave those present some very good advice, and described in detail' the standards of the various breeds, and the best method of obtaining these standards. Of course there was' room for improvement in New Zealand, but, comparing the types elsewhere with .what he found in New Zealand, the Dominion could favourably compare with n Australia. In fact', he had himself won prizes in good company in Australia.with birds he Tiad obtained in, New Zealand. As regards the local show he could say that the quality of the exhibits was above last year's form. Pigeons and cage birds always made .an attractive feature of shows, and he thought the Association could well pay more attention to this class.

Other toasts honoured were: "The Prosperity of the Fancy,' 5. "The Visitors," "The Association," "The Past Secretary;"' "The Secretary,? "The Ladies," "The Press," "Successful Exhibitors," "Non-successful. Exhibitors," - and the "Chairman.? -, -

"Auld Lang Syne" concluded fa very pleasant function.
