CHRISTIE'S MINE.
REASON FOR THE STRIKE.
[PRESS ( ASSOCIATION.}
DUNEDIN, May 16. The reason for the men striking at Christie's mine is aleged to be that they are frightened that something is wrong,' because the owners refused to permit the workers' representatives to inspect the mine. They fear that the workings are liable to be flooded. Mr Green, Inspector of Mines, will inspect tße place.
A Press Association < telegram from Dunedin yesterday stated that Christie Bros' coal-mine at Green Island has closed down, all hands, numbering thirty-five having struck. The trouble seemingly arose over the check inspectioii provided by the Act. .
