An- ingenious police ruse was described at Chatham (Eng.) the other day, when Edward Stafford, formerly a local coal merchant, was remanded on a charge of obtaining credit for £600 while an undischarged bankrupt. Stafford left the country during the bankruptcy proceedings, and on his return a constable, in the guise of a commercial traveller, with sample bag and visiting cards, obtained an interview with him, and he was arrested.
