It will not affect the harvest but.will freshen up the pastures and brighten the farmers' prospects. ,[,CHRISTCHURCH, Jan. 31. Heavy rain fell at intervals during last ■'night.' This morning the roads were damp, but had been-so long under a fierce sun that the rain was soon absorbed. By ten o'clock, when the sun again broke out and the day was warm as ever the damp had almost disappeared. The showers, however, willdo good to pastures'and feed crops.
