PERSONAL.
Mr and Mrs J. Hardin, of Sydney, are visiting Livermere, the residence of Mi-s Hardin's parents (Mr and Mrs I A. J. Lit<3hfield)>
Mr W. W. Gabites, who for. the last four years has occupied a position on the staff of the local brancji of the New Zealand Loan and Mercantile Agency Company, has received notice of transfer to Auckland. During the time he has been in Blenheim Mr Gabites has made many friends, , and the Marlborough Lawn Tennis Club will find it hard to replace him as secretary. In musical circles, also, his loss will be severely felt. Mr Gabites takes his departure on Monday next.
Sir John Madden, Chief Justice of Victoria, arrived from Sydney by the Marama, accompanied by his daughter (Miss Madden) and Colonel Campbell, who acted as A.D.C. to his Honour during the time the latter was Lieutenant-Governor of the State, while Sir Reginald Talbot was on a visit to Europe. The visitors, who are staying at the Grand Hotel, will remain in Wellington for a few days and then leave on a tour of the Hot Lakes district, returning to Melbourne aboutthe beginning of February.
