LONDON'S RATES.
The London Municipal Society ha,s issued a table which shows the reductions in the rates of London during the year ending March, 1908, or since the " Municipal Reform " Party came into power. The reductions are said to be equal to a sum of nearly £380,----000, and the increases ("due mainly to Progressive legacies of debt") are equal to a sum of about £93,000. According to this calculation, the net reduction is about £287,000. The table shows that the largest reductions have taken place in those boroughs where the Progressives were previously in power. The Bermondsey rate has fallen Is 4d, the Lincoln Inn rate Is 7d, and the Poplar rate Is 4d.
