FLAXBOURNE.

The monthly meeting of the Flaxbourne Setclers' Association was held on September 23rd, Mr A. D. Loe presiding, Correspondence was read from the Land Board stating that only a year to year lease could be granted for the section at present occupied by the Awatere Road Board. which the Association had applied for as a site for a public saleyards and dip. It was resolved to apply to have the plantation reserve put aside as a saleyards reserve, and also to write to Mr McKenzie and inquire the price asked for his section near Tachall s Creek. Correspondence from the Hon C. H. Mills was read, stating that he had asked the Minister for Justice' to appoint justices of the peace for the district. It was decided to hold the annual general meeting on October 14th, and to urge all settlers to attend on that date at 7.30 p.m.

It is reported that Mr A. Gogg, of Flaxbourne, who has been in ill-health fos- some time, has sold his holding of sOfio acres to Mr Francis, of Starborough, at a satisfactory price for goodwill.
