Sir Wilßana Lyne made a statement last night regarding the establishment of ?a High, Commissioner's office in Lon<fon.. It was proposed, he said, to erect suitable offices at a cost of £.60,000. A leasehold site w&s under offer, belonging ,to the London County Council, in i th© Str.and.
Tib& Opposition were sceptical about a siJKsioreyed building with a 200-feet frontage being erected at the price. They believe that it would cost more like a quarter of a million.
Mr Watson thought- that the Commissioner should be appointed before they dealt with the .question of a building.
The initial vote for the purpose of acquiring the site was passed
