THE DIFFERENCE.
An English" paper thus /defines, somewhat humourously, the differences between mental healing, faith healing and Christian Science: For the information of the man in the street it may be pointed out that (Jnristian Science has nothing to do with faithhealing, and mental healing scorns any connection with either. To extend a homely illustration proffered by one expert : A man eats a dubiouslooking lobster. There are three ways by which he can escape indigestion and fearsome nightmares. He can be: (1). A mental healer, and say, "I 'will' not get indigestion and I 'will' not dream dreams."
(2). A faith-healer, and say "I firmly 'believe' I shajl not get pains in the region of my solar plexus, and J absolutely " believe " no green lobster With pink eyes will caper on my chest at midnight." Or (3) a- Christian Scientist, and say: " I know I shall sleep like a top, ' because.' according to fixed laws, I have the knowledge that a man is superior to a lobster." In each case he would have the laugh of his companion at supper, who was none of these three things. Here you have clearly indicated the basic principle of the three " sciences" one wills, another believes, and the third knows.' Faith enters into the first and last not at all, but the indigestion and the phantom lobster are routed by all three.
