Following^ is the text of the message found on a scrap of paper in a bottle picked up at Haiha Creek a few days ago:—"Elingamite wrecked. Second mate mad. Boat leaking. Goodbye. (Signed) Fraser, Chief Engineer." The Elingamite was wrecked on the Three Kings in November,' 1902. The chief engineer (R. Fraser) was in the third mate's boat, of which nothing has been heard since it disappeared in a fog after the officer in charge had told the purser of the Elingamite that he was going to the mainland. This boat was the best and the best-pro-visioned of all the boats, but her provisions would-not have fed her unfortunate occupants more than a few days.
