THE UNION COMPANY DEFENDED.
(Received Sept. 24, 10.22 a.m.)
SYDNEY, Sept. 24
Gibson, Bolton and Company, a firm of coal merchants, state that they have experienced no interference or restriction on the part of the Union Company. It has not refused to carry their coal, although they are outside the Vend; nor has the Company, so far as they know, exercised its monopoly right to carry Vend coal to New Zealand. They instance the fact that the Norwegian vessel Solgran took 500 tons of Vend coal to Auckland in July last.
