MARLBOROUGH A. AND P. ASSOCIATION.

MEETING OF COMMITTEE

A special meeting of the Committee of the Maryborough A. and P. Association was held on Saturday last.. There were present:—Messrs A. McCallum (Chairman), Bell, Boyce, Gifford, Neville, McKay, Lankow, Meehan, Bishell, Storey, Avery, Dick, Vavasour, and Allan. Messrs A. Hodgson^ Richmond Brook, and Thomas Murphy, Spring Creek, were elected members of the Association. . A letter from the Otago Association's Committee, relating to the desirability of having the Dominion's produce shown at the Royal Agricultural Show and other shows in England, was considered, and it was decided to co-operate with the Otago Association in urging the matter upon the Government. The President was appointed delegate to the Executive of the Conference. The Chamber of Commerce Council was granted the use of the Association's rooms at the usual fee. The Lands Department notified that Mrs Ross's tenancy of land conveyed fromthe Crown to the Association at Grovetown would, expire on 31st December, 1907.—1t was decided to notify Mrs Ross of the change of landlords, and invite her to make a fresh oifer. Mr Vavasour suggested that an announcement be made on the top of the schedule calling public attention to the fact that the spring meeting of the Racing Club will come m the same week as the Show. The schedules could be circulated in the newspapers. He felt sure the Racing Club Committee would give £5 towards the cost. He moved to this effect.—The motion was seconded sby Mr Bell and carried. . , -i *r The schedule was approved. Mr /Avery mentioned that there was some prospect of the implement agents not exhibiting this year.—lt was decided that the, agents be written to asking if they were going to show. Mr Avery suggested that the Shearing Competition be for machine shearers instead of blades, in order to promote greater interest.—lt was deckled that the Sebretary write to the different machine-owners and suggest they give donations, per special prize, for best machine shearer on the ground, the conditions to give each competitor the right of choosing his own machine, the best and quickest man to be the winner". Accounts were passed as follows: — Borough rates, £9 4s Id; J. Hale, £3. A vote of thanks ws accorded the horse parade stewards. JUDGES, -The appointment <rf judges resulted as follows;— Light horses, G. B. Starkey (Amberley), R. Mcßae and C. F. Vallance in reserve; draught! horses, R. D. Knight (Longburn), j Jas. Stevenson <Maxton) in reserve; j merinos, Fraflk Smith, Waratah, | Albury; English and Border Leicester and Lincoln, James Taylor (Papamii), William Percy (Penrose,, Masterton) iv reserve; dfflsgs, Chas.iGoulter, Geo. Lane in re&enre; cattle, Geo. Lane and J. B. Rayner; Parley, Thos. Madden; seed wlieat and oats, A. D. Robertson; butter, cheese, hams and bacon, J. Foote; domestic iprodiice, Mesdames Meehan, McKay, Neville, Dick, and Avery. On the motion of Mr Storey, the resolution granting the only competitor the prize for the Show essay was rescinded, and it was decided to grant Miss Madden a first prize of the value of 4s.
