SATURDAY'S MATCHES.
Ideal football weather was experienced on Saturday-—bright sunshine, with hardly a breath of wind stirring, and the ground in perfect order. The two senior matches on the Domain drew a big crowd of spectators, many ■of whom were ladies. This is as it should be, and shows that the Rugby game in Blenheim is becoming purged of those elements which formerly restricted the spectators to persons of the male sex.
Neither game was noticeable for any particularly brilliant play, but both were keenly contested, especially the one in which the two town teams^Opawa and Central—were engaged. The result of the day's play leaves Awatere in the lead by one point, Opawa and Central being next, and Moutere three points behind them. Awatere has s£' points, Opawa and Central 4s, and Moutere I^. It is possible for the next series of matches to decide the championship, for, if Awatere prove victorious over Central, the coveted cup will be theirs; on the other hand, should the blues win, and ' Opawa vanquish Moutere, Awatere, Central and Opawa will be on the same mark, and two more games will be necessary in order to decide the premiership.
