SACRED CONCERT AT MAHAKIPAWA.

An interesting and enjoyable sacred concert, in aid of the Church of England Sunday School, was held in the Empire Hall, Mahakipawa on the evening of 26th. A large number of residents and visitors were present, many coming long distances by land and water. A long and varied programme was prepared, and too much praise cannot be given to Miss F. Palmer, Miss Neal, Miss and Miss R. Palmer, Mrs B. Barker, Messrs M. Paterson, W. Neal, G. Cawte, and Campbell, who acted the dialogues "Between two Stools" and "Aunt Jarusha's, Mistake" very well, no pains being spared to make the evening a great success. Other interesting items were:—"Fan Drill" by, Cullensville school girls (under Miss Young's instruction) and "Tea Cup Time," action song by Mahakipawa school girls (Miss Palmer). Miss Powell's (Havelock) character song was much appreciated, and also was Miss NeaPs "Barney O'Hea." Mr Watts recited "Henry of Navarre" very pleasingly, dressed in a quaint uniform. Master C. Coleman recited really well, and so did H. Palmer, "Much obliged to me," being his best. Songs by Mrs F. Palmer, Miss Neal, Miss Powell, J. Campbell, Mrs Powell, G. Cawte, and Miss R. Palmer were well rendered: The Rev. Mr Stace, Haveloek, closed the proceedings with a few well-chosen remarks. He said great credit was due to the promoters for their perseverence, and with a hearty vote of. thanks the evening came to an end.—Correspondent.
