MARLBOROUGH v. WAITOHI.

If the hearty enthusiasm of the crowd could win a match for'the Waitohi Hockey Club, they would certainly have' won on Saturday against the Marlboroughs; but they suffered -from the same trouble as when they began—a shortage of emergencies. If one is incapacitated they have to pufc on a new player in her place, so that there is really no combination in the team. Under the circumstances, it was clever of them to pot a goal at all —not to mention another which they so nearly got in that the spectators fairly roared round the goal posts. The fourth goal was immediately secured, the three first being potted early in the second spell. The match resulted in a win for the Marlboroughs by four goals to one, Misses Rogers, Dickens, Furness and Foster scoring for the visitors and Miss May Philpotts for th^-home team.
