JUNIOR BANNER.

OPAWA (16) v. CENTRAL (0). Better football was shown in this ma-teh than in the senior one on the adjoining ground, the Opawas making a specialty of passing - rushes, which, owing to their forwards getting the ball in the scrums, they were able often to indulge in. Their play-all-round was superior to that of the Central team, and by the time that the whistle .sounded " no-side " they had run up 16 points. Tries were scored by Morrison (2) and Jordan; Lane converted Morrison's tries, and Mogridge kicked a goal from a mark. The score at half-time was three to nil, but^in the second the blacks outplayed and outstayed the blues, and scored another 13 points. In the OpaAva back division, the most conspicuous were Lane and Mogridge, ..the-: display of the latter marking him as almost a certainty for the representative team; of the forwards, Morrison, Crook and Jordan grafted with the best results. Among the Central backs Tapp played the most consistently, while of the forwards Burroughs oftenest caught the eye. Mr Jno. O'Dwyer was referee. THIRD-CLASS BANNER. The High School team journeyed by drag to Renwick, where they were defeated by over 30 points. In the absence of the appointed referee (Mr O. McHale) Mr W. R. Cook carried the whistle. Mr E. H. Best, who was selected to referee in the, match Opawa v. Moutere, did not put in an appearance, so the match could not take place .
