Wairau Bar (noon). —The bar is smooth, the tides good, and the depth of water lift Gin. The Waihi crossed outwards at 5.30 p.m. yesterday. The Blenheim was re-floated at £30 last night, and came up to Blenheim, crossing outwards at ti.3o a.m. to-day. The Shaw, Savill and Albion Company's twin-screw steamer Matatua, ■which arrived at- Picton at 9.15 a.m. to-day, is a vessel of 6488 tons, and is commanded by Capt. J. Maxwell. Her .length is 448 feet, her horse-power 4500, and she is built of steel. It is understood that^Messrs A. H. Turnbull, owners of the barque Wai-iti, have sold their vessel to the Blackball Coal Company for use as a coal hulk. The Wai-iti .was built in Norway in 1891, and her cargo capacity is- about 1200 tons Ciead weight.
