With such eminently feminine weapons as a smile, a wise tact, a skill in cookery, woman has conquered the world of men, and can go on conquering it as long: as she likes. Man takes off his hat to her and goes off his head for her, and will never learn to do otherwise unless she teaches him. The rise of democracy dates from the abolition of suits of mail; all the glamor and glory of knighthood faded away when the aristocracy exchanged their helmets for the conventional, undistinguished top-hat; and woman will lose her supremacy as soon as she succeeds in realising her curious ideal and compels man to discontinue looking up to her as his superior by successfully asserting her right to be treated as his equal.
