FLAXBOURNE SETTLERS' ASSOCIATION.

The usual monthly meeting of the committee of the Flaxbonrne Settlers' Association was held on June 4th. There was a large attendance, and the President (Mr D. Loe) was in the chah'. A repjy was received from the Commissioner of Lands, offering to meet a deputation from the Association in regard to choosing a more suitable site for a recreation reserve, and also stating that stsps were, being taken to have the Cemetery Reserve formally gazetted, after which trustees were to be elected. Messrs D. J. Scott, A. Loe, A. R. Wooding, E. Bell, and J. J. Hall were appointed to meet the Commissioner on a day to be arranged. Motions w-ere"passed resolving to entleayoijr to obtajn the services'of (?pverument stallions for the district ; and to arrange for a day's amusement on the anniversary of the formation of the Association. Many other matters of general interest to the settlers were discussed.
