A SQUADRON AMBUSHED.

AN HEROIC STAND

THE EUROPEANS REINFORCED. (Received June 7, 8.26 a.m.) PIETERMARITZBURG, June 6. Rebels ambushed Captain Clark's squadron at the bottom of a donga. Three hundred rebels charged through fifteen Europeans, and, returning, surrounded them. ■. ~-- ' Captain Clark, lying wounded, continued emptying his revolver, urging his men to keep steady and help the wounded. The defenders fought, desperately,., sheltering behind masses of rock and tangled undergrowth until Royston's Horse arrived. Trooper Robertson, ah Australian, was killed, and another Australian trooper* waswounded. ■•••■• ,
