The "Daily Mail" says that Mr Balfour would probably have resigned if the Liberal newspapers had not clamorously urged their leaders not to accept office until after the general election. Now the Government will mark time until a convenient season for holding the elections, which will not occur until after the Christmas holidays,' but before Parliament meets.
