At the Lands Commission Mr Speight, Secretary of the Coonamble Farmers and Settlers' Association, charged Mr Willis with being the greatest land dummier in New South Wales. He also made charges against a certain person whom he declared to be responsible for; trafficking in the public estates, and against certain departmental officials.
An important witness named Hayes failed to answer the summons, and the Commission's efforts to trace him are at present futile.
